Columbia University has earned a Diamond Engineering Excellence Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACEC-NY) for the design and construction of the below-grade foundations for Columbia’s new Manhattanville campus.

The Studebaker Building’s original lobby and West 131st Street will be reopening Monday, November 11, marking the completion of the site utilities project for the Manhattanville campus. 

More than 35 University project managers attended “Enhancing the Project Management Experience” to discuss best practices in higher education project management.

Columbia’s Manhattanville Development Group joined with its professional services partners to mentor a team of high school students as part of the Architecture, Construction, and Engineering (ACE) Mentorship program. 

Celebrating the recent successful opening of state-of-the-art, accessible new classroom space in Chandler Hall, Provost John H. Coatsworth, Deputy Registrar Monica Avitsur, Columbia Health AVP and Medical Director Melanie Bernitz, and Facilities & Operations Executive Director for Space Planning Eugene Villalobos joined a group of University partners to officially open the renovated spaces, which represent 4,500 square feet of new classroom and instructional space. Senior leadership cut a ribbon in the new large lecture hall, 402 Chandler, to mark the occasion.

The Forum, the third new building completed at Columbia University’s Manhattanville campus, has earned a third prestigious architectural honor, with a German Design Award in the Excellent Architecture category joining a Merit Award from AIA New York and a MASterworks Award for “Best New Building” from the Municipal Art Society of New York.

Third new building at the Manhattanville campus to be awarded LEED Gold

Columbia University’s Manhattanville campus has been awarded the 2019 Urban Land Institute New York (ULI NY) Award for Excellence in Institutional Development, a statewide competition recognizing projects that demonstrate commitment to planning, design, sustainability, and community impact.

Columbia University’s Manhattanville campus was honored with the 2019 Sustainable Construction Award at the New York Build Expo that took place on March 12 at the Javits Center.   The award was received by Lendlease, a construction management firm on the project, in recognition of the sustainable construction techniques employed when building the Jerome L. Greene Science Center, Lenfest Center for the Arts and Central Energy Plant. 

The Forum, the third new building to open at Columbia University’s Manhattanville campus, was recognized with a 2019 MASterworks Award for “Best New Building” from the Municipal Art Society of New York (MAS).

Columbia University received a Gold Engineering Excellence Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACEC New York) for the construction of the Bubble at Baker, a seasonal air-supported structure covering the Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium to create an indoor practice facility for Columbia Athletics during the winter months.  The award was received in the category of special projects as part of ACEC New York’s 2018 Engineering Excellence Award competition. 

The Forum, the third new building to open at Columbia University’s Manhattanville campus, was recognized with a 2019 Merit Award in the Architecture category from AIA New York, the oldest and largest chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
