Studebaker Building Facade Repairs and Roof Replacement
About the Project
Facilities and Operations is performing exterior repairs at the Studebaker Building. The first phase of the project is focusing on façade repairs to address deteriorating conditions of terra cotta and ensure safety, including terra cotta replacement, parapet reconstruction, and masonry repairs. The roof is also near the end of its serviceable life and requires a full replacement to correct damage and ongoing leaks, which will begin once the façade repairs are complete. This project represents the first significant exterior project at the building in 14 years.
Project Scope and Phases
The architect’s inspections — scheduled for late March 2022 — will inform the full project scope and schedule, and may uncover unknown conditions that will impact the scope and schedule. The first phase of the project is anticipated to begin April 2022 and is anticipated to be complete in December 2023. The second phase is set to begin approximately June 2023 and be complete in November 2024.
Schedule
Regular work hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The estimated completion is November 2024, but is subject to change based on planning inspections by the architect, weather delays, and other unforeseen conditions.
What to Expect
Expect high levels of noise, especially in areas near the walls where and when drilling and repairs are taking place. Windows should remain closed to prevent construction dust from entering the building. Draw shades for privacy during the work day.
