What is Happening

Beginning in early June, Columbia University will commence preliminary work at the Philip & Cheryl Milstein Family Tennis Center. This investigation is needed to determine the solutions to address leaks and other rooftop court performance issues. Work will include an assessment of the rooftop courts and a mockup on the eastern side of the rooftop courts to evaluate the performance of surface materials. Future work to implement the solutions will be shared once the full project scope is confirmed.

What to Expect

The following conditions and potential impacts are anticipated for preliminary work occurring in mid-June to mid-July 2026:

  • Delivery of small equipment and tools to support upcoming work.
  • Investigative demolition activities that will include grinding equipment that produces a buzzing noise.
  • Expect other impacts typically associated with construction projects.

Schedule

Regular work hours are Mondays to Fridays, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Please note the contractor may begin daily preparations 30 minutes before construction commences.

The investigation is anticipated to be complete in mid-July 2026. The full project schedule will be communicated at a later date once the full scope of work is confirmed.
