The University building portfolio consists of more than 300 buildings of various ages, sizes and uses. Many of the University’s buildings predate building codes or are built under early, less stringent codes, and many have physical and legal interconnections, creating a complex regulatory environment. Work performed by the University is based on a framework of regulatory and voluntary programs, developed and enforced by the Design and Compliance group to ensure that the physical environment supports the needs and expectations of its constituents. Through its standards and quality programs, Design and Compliance provides a lens through which a consistent approach and quality level is applied throughout the campus.
