Butler Library Renovations

Grand stone and brick building with columns sits behind green lawns.

The renovations to Columbia University's flagship library included both interior and exterior work and systems upgrades. Exterior improvements included facade repairs, a low roof replacement, and replacement of structural steel and mechanical equipment. Systems upgrades improved building-wide mechanical, electrical, HVAC, communications and fire-safety systems, elevator rehabilitation, electrical and data systems in the level 700, 800, and 900 carrels, and fire-protection and detection systems in the stack 14 rare book collection area. In addition, reading rooms and study areas were redesigned for both individual and group study.

This project was completed in 2008.
