The "Bubble at Baker" is a vinyl dome that seasonally covers the Rocco B. Commisso soccer field, providing critical indoor practice space for many of Columbia's varsity athletics programs during the winter months. This structure is erected every year after the last football and soccer game of the fall season and remain in place until just after spring break. As part of this initiative, the turf on the soccer field, roughly 96,000 square feet in size, was also replaced.
The Bubble at Baker was completed in 2017 and received the Gold Engineering Excellence Award from the ACEC New York.
