110th Street Faculty Residence and The School at Columbia

A 12-story stone building at the corner of two streets.

Columbia University's Faculty Residence, The School at Columbia, D'Agostino supermarket, and Chase bank occupy the 12 story, 166,000 square foot building and street-level retail spaces of the building at 110th Street. The University worked closely with the local community to address the overall context of the building. Columbia University applied for and received several variances from the NYC Board of Standards and Appeals (BSA), as well as from Community Board 7. Collectively, the variances allowed for larger floor areas, which in turn allowed for a shorter building that is more contextual with the surrounding area.

This project was completed in 2003.
